NaBloPoMo: Recharging my Marriage

Monday, November 5, 2012

"I, Cintia, take you, Zeke, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live."
I am walking my talk. I am putting my marriage first by spending some significant, alone time with my husband as we travel. I know that when I put my marriage first I do 3 things:
I remember. My covenant is with Zeke and our wedding vows are the place I mentally go to when I decide our marriage is my priority. Recreating and relaxation are the fabrics that make our vows relevant years after they were spoken. After the sacred words are out there, it's up to us to make them work. By spending alone time with Zeke I am remembering and honoring my vows to have and to hold.
I relax. Stepping away from our daily routine is so refreshing! We have always loved traveling and seeing new things so our new adventures are treasured. When adventures turn to memories our hearts are bound together in a new way.
I bond. A cord of three strands is not easily broken. The refreshment we are experiencing brings peace, clear minds and hearts. When (not if) road blocks come to test our progress, we can be assured that times of refreshment bound us closer together. The fun time we are experiencing will strengthen us now and later.
QUESTION: What are some of the creative ways you bond with your spouse?
