Reflections on Be you, bravely

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)

I've been doing some study in this Isaiah passage because it is this year's MOPS International theme. I love this theme because it is so rich and this wealth comes from the word of God.
Today I learned that "the former things" might not necessarily be bad. The Israelites for example saw some great deliverance from Egypt and God was guaranteeing that His new thing would be even greater.
I'm not the only person who has the tendency to live in the glory of the past, I'm sure. This passage invites me to get my eyes to God's new thing.
I find it interesting that 'Behold' is placed before 'I will do a new thing.' There's nothing dramatic about the translation of the Hebrew word hinneh. I just wonder if I need to somehow see it before this new thing happens. I believe the best way to see what God is doing is by getting to know Him through His Word. The Bible is filled with the new things God wants to do in my life. The guideline to the abundant life Jesus died to give us is found in the Bible.
I pray you have a great day, thanks for reading my blog!
