The Person in the Before Picture

Before picture in 2007
The person on the before picture is not undisciplined. That person actually accomplished a lot. I encourage you to think positively about your before picture. Feeling negative about yourself only paves the way to defeat. One of the key things I have learned when it comes to weight loss is that feeling negative only hurts the process.

We all need discipline to get us where we are to where we need to be. In my case, I gained some weight recently and I need to lose it. I recovered from back to back infections while training for a marathon, so I decided not to be too strict about my weight. Now that I am healthy (thank God), it is time to get back on the weight loss mode. My main goal is to be the healthiest wife and mother I can be. The tools that helped me before continue to help me now:

1. Persistence - it’s important not to give up. I heard that the weight loss program that works is the one you stick with. I am encouraged to persist till I see the results I want to see.

2. Positive Mind - more than a feel good kind of thing, my mind needs to be stayed on God. He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him because they trust in Him. Peace is a big part of the process.

3. Self-Forgiveness - I am not going for a perfect journey because that would be foolish. I find that forgiving myself and learning from my mistakes is what propels me forward.

4. Boundaries - well established boundaries really help me. They actually pave the way to where I am to where I need to be. Knowing what my boundaries are and learning to be content within them is part of a well executed health plan.

The person in the before picture is loved. The person in the before picture is wise enough to make the decision to walk towards a healthier life. There’s no way I can dislike the person in the before picture because that person is beautifully and wonderfully made. God loves you and I just the way we are. I pray that you have a healthy and productive day!
