When Frustration brings Promotion

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Some prayers are answered in a way I dislike. For example, lately I have been dealing with a lot of frustration. Nothing major, just little things that upset my Type A way of life. As I reflect on why I am frustrated, I can see the hand of God giving me just what I need: character promotion.

I often pray and ask for wisdom. God always listens and answers my prayer. The more I read the Bible, the more I see how we are to make Wisdom our BFF. In the book of Psalms the writers get really bold with it:

"Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart." Psalm 51:6 (ESV)

If you look at Psalm 119, the writer asks for wisdom 10 times. Wow. I am a fan of Spiritual Discipline (prayer, fasting, Bible reading, you get the picture) because I really need guidance in this life God has given me. I am often in need of wisdom as a wife, mother and in all the other places God has so graciously planted me.

Not every inconvenience is people generated. Okay, maybe they do get it started but I believe that what I have been experienced lately have been opportunities to get wisdom and for my character to develop.

Have you been frustrated lately? Do you think you can learn something from that situation?
