Chevron Houston Marathon Week 16

Thursday, October 15, 2015

I am so thankful for a better week. I was off work on Monday, which allowed me to run outside. I think I covered a good 7 miles. I can often fit 4 during the week but I treated myself to 3 more because of the day off. Then, I had a lot of housework to do on Wednesday but I carved some time off later on that day and went for another run. I was surprised about the cooler temps! Yay Fall! Thank God I was also able to complete my cross training for the week. I basically warm up with a walk then I attach my abs. I've been doing different types of sit ups to be sure those core muscles are stronger. I also did some upper body exercises. I'm thankful.
Temps are dropping: running gets even better!
The marathon is 93 days and we are so ready for it! Today I registered for the first race of the warm up series which is the Luke's Locker & Koala Health & Wellness Houston Half Marathon & 10K.

You know I'm a marathoner, so this is just my second half marathon. I'm positive that this race not only will be enjoyable but that I will be able to PR. The reason for my confidence? First, Christ who gives me strength and second, my first half-marathon was completely hilly and hot. I took my time, I took photos and I took a PR :) Oh, I guess I need to tell you that I also signed up for a 5K (the same one I placed last year) and for a 10K (this was a freebie, I won in a drawing. They're also the charity my husband is supporting). For someone who usually doesn't race much, I have every mileage in the book scheduled for the next 3 months. Yay for competition!
Needless to say, I'm eager to run this half marathon and join in the excitement for the Chevron Houston Marathon. There are still some Charity entries if you'd like to join us. I know that a lot of folks also register for the 5K the day before the marathon. Please go to the website for more information.
Not every week of training is perfect. I have learned that I just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other. If I focus on my goal I will get there with God's help.
Have a great day my friend! I appreciate your prayers for a successful season of racing this Fall.
