Where does Wisdom Come From?

Friday, June 17, 2011

I am constantly in the search for wisdom. As a child I figured it's a good thing to have because that's what Solomon asked for and he got everything else. As an adult I realize wisdom is really essencial for abundant living.
This week our church is reading James 3 and I told you what I that words can be a drink of choice

Here I am, facing the last part of this chapter and struggling with the way James put these words together. Why? I guess my life became complicated. I have to deprogram myself for thinking that wisdom comes from the many books I read while getting my degrees. I have to let go of the idea that wisdom is an old man on a white robe with a long beard (and he whispers everything he says).
James 3:17 says that Wisdom from above is:
1. Pure

2. Peaceful
3. Gentle
4. Obedient
5. Filled with Mercy and Good Deeds
6. Impartial
7. Sincere

Wisdom screams in the book of Proverbs. Here in the book of James it speaks louder than words for it is shown by actions that come from a humble lifestyle (verse 13). At the end of the day I have to ask myself if my life is displaying fruits of Wisdom. James 3:13-18
• How did you see Wisdom as a child and how do you see it as an adult?

These verses are a litmus test for if I'm being wise or if my actions are wise. Worldly wisdom sometimes creates the opposite of Godly wisdom and in that case it wasnt wisdom just knowledge. Gods wisdom confounds...so it may not appear smart to you, but if it has these characteristics - you can rest assured that you are being wise.
PS - solomon is misspelt.
