Smart deposits

It seems that there is no end in our giving. We give to our families, bosses, strangers... people are always requiring something from us. They are making withdrawals constantly. The problem with continuous withdrawals without deposits is that you end up Bankrupt.

What are the signs that you may be Bankrupt? You may be irritable, tired, you might snap easily in a normal situation. You certainly complain. Your health may be suffering too. Your body is just not working the way it should. You are at the end of your road and yet, you feel like you have to keep going.

If you are anywhere close to Bankrupt today, I want to encourage you to make these 3 Smart Deposits that will change your situation.

• Prayer - In the last part of Luke 8, we see that many were pressing against Jesus and not all of them truly touched him except for one woman. "But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me” Luke 8:46. She had the kind of faith that could not go unnoticed: she was instantly healed because of her faith. In a way, her act of faith made a withdrawal from Jesus’ power. I wonder if you have applied your faith to your current situation. Prayer is the way to touch Jesus. He is pleased when you focus your faith in Him and do not complain as a way of coping.

Here are other ways to make smart investments in your life.

Time Management - you are the master over your schedule. Take a serious look and decide how you can make your schedule work out for your benefit. Are there any time wasters there? These would be the things that are not taking you closer to your goals. It is true that we are pushed and pulled in different directions but your schedule is the true way to find out if you are getting closer or further away from your goals. Please be mindful that Rest needs to be part of your schedule for your health and well-being.

Get real - take your cape and superhero gear off and remember that you don't have to do everything because you can't. I know you have a good heart. I know you care about many causes. The problem is if your health and mind are suffering because if it, you need to get real. Pray and ask God: “what have you given me the power and ability to do?” Listen for His response. Let me tell you something about God. He’s not going to stretch you thin. He’s not going to give you ulcers. He is not going to require you to do more than any human should do. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. Learn from Him.

I want to encourage you to put yourself on the road to recovery from being Bankrupt. I pray that you are honest with yourself and you can use these three tips to your advantage. Have an amazing day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you just as I am. Tired and weary. I need a deposit from you. I give my time, schedule, and desires to you. I want your best and I am willing to obey your commands. I ask you in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
