Real Life Happened to Me

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

These past two days have been very emotional to say the least. Pregnancy hormones, motherhood test & trials... and at the end of the day, God is still good and I still have a smile on my face.
I've been introducing new foods to LP and because his little body never saw them before, he has the normal reactions. No allergy, thank God for that. Yesterday I was totally vomited on. I was feeling good, looking good and ended up on my knees cleaning baby throw up.
LP is good. I talked to my mom, as well as with a nutritionist friend and I have a new game plan. Raising a baby in the U.S. is a little more of a challenge because of my Brazilian upbringing. The way we introduce foods is different. There's not a lot of eating with your hands (unless is cheerios, a cookie, etc). We feed them their meals until they can feed themselves. Another issue I have is that if I let him eat dinner with his hands, I have to break that habit down the road in order to introduce utensils in a few months. We'll see how my experiment will go. Today we had a smaller amount of baby vomit but at least I didn't have to wash my hair :)
Things are getting better. I know I'll laugh out loud when I see him sitting on our dinning room table and using all his utensils properly in a few years. Here's a super recent photo of LP who weighs 17.6 lbs and measures 27 1/2 inches:
The weather was nice enough for an outing today. Actually we just ran an errand for my husband but it was nice to get out, see people and get a break from the house. I still haven't found a real life moms group to be a part of (I found a virtual one). I'm supposed to give one a try but every week there's a conflict. The good thing is that I can always shoot for next week.
A joyful note in the midst of this hormonal week is that I squeezed in 2 workouts! Check out my training since I gave birth 9 months ago:

June was my best month. I walked around 3 miles most days of the week. In November I looked at how the mileage went down considerably and challenged myself to beat the June numbers. November was also the beginning of my pregnancy. December and January sucked, so the goal this month is to walk at least 3 times a week. My ambition is to beat those 61 miles still. Can I do it? Stay tuned. Thanks for reading friends. I appreciate the comments and the encouragement always. May God continue to bless you.
P.S.: This awesome graph is from dailymile.com I go there to keep up with my miles and get encouragement from other walkers. I also learned how to take a screenshot on my Mac (command+shift+3). Watch out world! LOL!
