"I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me." Psalm 13:6
Music is a huge part of our lives. We sing, write, produce, arrange, teach, translate, learn and everything in between. This past weekend I had the opportunity to translate some of my husband's songs to Portuguese and it was a lot of fun.
I had help and encouragement from a great friend back home via Skype and that gave me the tenacity to keep going.
I enjoy singing. I don't think I'm the best singer this earth has ever seen but I hope to be the boldest worshiper of God this earth will ever see in my generation.
I am aware that God inhabits the praises of His people so singing needs to be a constant in my life. I know I'm having a bad day when the singing stops. Good thing I have kids to remind me to keep on singing anyhow.
The book of Psalms gives us plenty reasons to sing. I like to stay in Psalms not only for the poetic beauty of the book but also for the encouragement it gives me to make music to God.
My husband and I are firm believers in empowering the next generation to sing to the Lord. My prayer (and the action that follows) has been to train the next generation to lead worship and to live a life of praise and worship of God whether we have a mic in our hands or not. I believe the Lord will answer my prayers really soon. What I mean is that I have contacted 3 young persons at church to come and sing with me with the purpose of being trained to lead worship if they so choose to follow that path. We certainly see the potential and anointing in their lives.
I also appreciate the variety of things we can do with music. From lullabies to soundtracks to extraneous exercise, music is there to bring joy. God created music. There is worship going on in heaven 24/7 and that's the type of atmosphere I want to belong.
Today I am thankful for the ability to make a joyful noise (Psalm 100). Will you join me adding more music to your day?
