Celebrate Global Running Day

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

June 1 is Global Running Day. This year, I went to www.globalrunningday.org and here's what I pledged to run:

The Chevron Houston Marathon is one of the Global Supporters. There are many activities around town you can join. You can also do what I am planning to do and running my miles solo.

I know that Global Running Day is also about inspiring the future generation of runners to find joy in getting healthy and fit through running. I am planning on getting my own kids out for a run tomorrow and throughout the summer as a habit.

So, the most miles I've ran on Global Running Day in the past was 8 miles. I know, overachiever (lol). This year I am planning to run 6. I plan on sticking with my pledge so I can ramp it up Saturday for my long run.

I've been thinking about what running means to me lately. I've been a runner for 8 years now. To say that running has changed my life is an understatement. Running has changed me and it has influenced my family. I am thankful to God for the ability and the desire to run.

What's coming up in my running life? Running Club season (officially) starts in a few weeks. I also start training for my Fall Half Marathon and the Chevron Houston Marathon excitement never, ever stops! By the way, Open Registration start tomorrow (June1). I am also getting leaner for all the events I am planning on running. As always, I appreciate you joining me in this journey!

Enjoy your day and pledge some miles for Global Running Day if you haven't done it already.
