Hold on don't let go

You should pay attention to the things you tell yourself.
Lately, the message has been "hold on, don't let go."

Trials come to everyone, none of us are immune.
Letting go is a choice and so is holding on.

The type of situation I face does not come with a formula.
I'd name it and claim it if I could.

The only assurance I have is that
God does not leave or forsake.

I will hold on and I won't let go.

What am I holding on to? Hope.
Hope is that unspoken feeling that allows me
to keep going, no matter how difficult the day.

Hope reminds me that things will turn out for the best.

God in His infinite wisdom, gave us daily limits.
When things are tough, He reminds us that joy comes in the morning.

With that in mind, I go to sleep.
Resting makes everything better.

There's no reason to over exert myself in difficult times.
Resting and relaxing must be part of the equation.

Resting makes holding on easier.

I'm also aware that if I don't take care of myself,
No one else will.

I remember being in such a bind that
I had to pick what good I'd do for myself.
I chose sleep, drinking water and exercising.
Everything else had to wait for a more stable season.

Stability came and with that, I added nutrition to my list.
I learned that I can't do everything but I can do something.
Taking care of myself helps me to hold on.

My faith walk needs to be my absolute priority
If I am to hold on to hope.

You can't give what you don't have and I need Jesus.
God doesn't want me to be a Bible scholar.
He does want me to know Him better.

Knowing what God expects of me
Helps me to focus my devotional time.

My approach is one of delight, need and even curiosity.
I want to know God better, therefore, I will read His book.

Bible reading, with the goal of knowing God, has transformed my life.
It has helped me grow like nothing else can do.

You can't buy the type of richness I gain by simply
Opening the Bible and reading the words of life.

My family also helps me to hold on and not let go.
They are my absolute priority, joy and responsibility.
They add delight, focus and joy to my every day.
Spending time with family has given me all the relaxation I need.

I know God created family to help us remember what matters.

I'm not sure where you are today.
What I know for a fact is that if you hold on, don't let go
God will not let go of your hand.
