5 Reasons Why your Church Should Tweet

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Twitter is a conversation where you communicate within 140 characters. Churches always ask me why they should be on Twitter. I tell them to consider the acronym R.E.A.C.H.
your church should
be on Twitter
1. Reach - Not all churches can be on television. Not all churches can afford ad rates. Twitter is a platform that has the capacity of help you reach a vast, world-wide audience through your tweets.
 2. Engage - A lot of the good conversation that happens on Sundays can and should continue during the week. Twitter can help you send out sermon notes, encouragement and even announcements. The opportunity of engaging people in the great things going on in your ministry is always available on Twitter.
3. Add - every social media platform should add value to people. Think about the uniqueness of your church and translate that into your use of Twitter. Remember to add value to the reader every time you tweet.
4. Communicate - Twitter is faster than that newsletter you send in the mail. The challenge is to get creative and express what's going on within 140 characters. Remember to use links to your advantage.
5. Hear - Conversations are about talking and listening. Twitter is a great place to hear what's in people's hearts. Remember that you can make a difference by listening. Do something different for your ministry, R.E.A.C.H. a vast audience through Twitter.
