Fatherhood in Real Life

Parenting has been a blessing from God. Like most people, we didn't have a degree in parenting, so we are learning a lot as we go with God as our Leader. I often blog about motherhood but today I thought I'd share about how fatherhood has been a blessing to our family.
My husband was the first one to hold and speak to our children when they are born: their bond started early. He sees them as very precious and treats them that way. He knows that kids spell love as t-i-m-e so he makes sure he spends a lot of time with all our kids. This is a photo of him taking all our kids out. He always does well when he cares for our kids at home or goes out with them. My husband is a student of our kids and is always seeking to learn something new about them.
The kids love their dad. They ask about him all day long when he's at work. Recently they learned to ask me to call him so they can talk to him on the phone. They show a lot of respect for their father and obey him very well. It is their joy to spend time with their dad: it seems like they can't get enough of him. What an amazing blessing is to love and to be loved this way!
I am thankful to God for a husband who is always seeking advice on how to be a better father. I am even more thankful for a husband who is always present and active in the lives of his kids and finds joy in doing so. He tells me that it refreshes him to spend time with our kids.
I pray that our relationship with our kids will continue to grow in love and grace.
Challenge of the Day: Think about someone who is a great father. Thank him (try to be specific) for being a great father. Make his day now, don't wait til the next Father's Day to appreciate him.

Awww, how sweet. My hubby is also a great father, and that is a relief. He never had a dad around, so he was nervous of what kind of father he would be. It means so much, to me and to the kids!
