Sunday Seven

Today I want to tell you 7 reasons why you should attend the Chevron Houston Marathon's Run for a Reason Kickoff Party on Thursday, June 11 from 5-7 p.m. on the south side of Memorial Park.

1 • Connect with Charities - nothing like a face-to-face encounter with different charities. Reading about them is much different than talking to them. Also, if you have any questions, there's a person right there to answer you. I want to challenge you to also ask the charity of your choice if they need any other help in different seasons of the year. Do they have specific needs during the holidays?
2 • Get your "in training" shirt - The most coveted t-shirt in Houston (other than your 2016 finisher's t-shirt) is available only at the Run for a Reason Kickoff Party. This t-shirt might even give you special magical powers friends! Seriously, super cool t-shirt.
3 • Visit with Running Clubs - if you run alone, you might want to check out some of the awesome running clubs represented at the party. You know I'm a believer in group runs and I love running groups. You can have extra support for your training if you join a running group as you train to run the Chevron Houston Marathon.
4 • Get your Run in - Hello?! You'll be at Memorial Park! Stop by the party before or after your run. Trust me, getting some miles in and attending the Kickoff Party is the perfect combination for a Thursday.
5 • Get some Free Food - This deal is getting better and better. Did anyone say free food? I don't know what kind of day you usually have on Thursdays but anything gets immediately better with free food.
6 • Donate your old Running Shoes - You can bring your old shoes and make a donation to SEARCH Homeless Services. Just look for the Waste Management shoe donation bins throughout the event. It's that simple to make a difference!
7 • Learn how to Guarantee your entry to the Race - if you missed the registration for the Chevron Houston Marathon for any reason, you can find out how to guarantee your entry to the race. My husband missed  registering for the Aramco Houston Half Marathon before it sold out, so he will be one of the people who will be looking for a Guarantee entry to the half.
