Congratulations to you, Woman

Happy International Woman's Day!
My mom always celebrated Internation Woman's Day. There were no balloons or flowers. There were no gifts or a proclamation in the neighborhood. What my sisters and I did get was a strong greeting filled with will and pride. My mother said something like "congratulations to you woman." These words don't do justice compared to the impact my mother made by her enthusiasm about International Woman's Day. I now treasure those words in my heart and I carry the spirit behind those words in my everyday life.

Women can be a lot of things. I personally choose to believe that the Biblical view of women is the one I'm sticking with:

Strength and honor are her clothing;

She shall rejoice in time to come.
26
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

Proverbs 31:25-26 (NKJV)

No matter what has been said about you today, choose to believe that you wear strength and honor. You shall rejoice in time to come. When you open your mouth today, wisdom comes out of it and your tongue is filled with the application of the law of kindness.

I'm choosing to celebrate International Women's Day this year by really believing what God says about women. I replicate my mother's words as I say, "CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, WOMAN!"
