My soul went on vacation

Monday, October 29, 2018

Instead of looking at my circumstances to make sense of what's going on, I have learned to look at God.
We can all agree that no matter where you are in the world, there is some crazy stuff going on. I often remind myself that I am a person of faith in Jesus. I cling to Him at all times.

This morning, as I was catching up on my Bible in a Year reading (we're almost done for 2018), I felt a strange feeling.

I felt like my soul and my senses went on vacation for a little bit. That's unusual for a Monday. Often, I'm tense just thinking about the day ahead.

This morning I found myself, focusing on the words I was reading. I found refreshment for my soul. Seeking God first is always a good idea.

The last thing I read was Psalm 145. Here are a few verses:

The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever.

Psalm 145:17-21 (NIV)

I believe my soul experienced that "vacation" feeling because God was near me. I called on him and He showed up. His presence is refreshing. It puts my soul at ease.

His presence brings peace. I am a firm believer that you can't give what you don't have. I need the peace of God in order to pass it on.

The legit way to get there is to seek God first. Uninterrupted moments with Him. Just a Bible and an open heart.

I'm not sure what you are a facing today. Here's what I know for sure: God is near to all who call on Him. He is near to all who call on Him in truth. God is righteous in all his ways and He is faithful in all He does.

God will be faithful to you. Call on Him my friend.
