Persevere with faith

I stand in the shoulders of women who didn’t come from much. Nothing was handed down to them. Life treated them unfairly, over and over again. What they decided to do has given me strength, courage, and wisdom to live my life.


The brave women in my life decided to persevere with faith.


The odds against them were great. Widowhood, poverty, lack of education, you name it. Still, they decided to persevere with faith. Because of them, I am here today. If it wasn’t for that strength of character, that stubbornness of will, my life would have turned out much differently.


I’m not sure if they knew that it would pay off. I don’t know if they knew that they were making my life better. The act of waking up to try again with faith in God is life changing.


I look at my life today and I see I'm blessed. My job is not to take my ancestor's sacrifices for granted.


I understand that not everyone’s ancestors have stellar records. People make bad choices and bad choices happen to them. But still, here you are. I believe you can still persevere with faith.


Faith that things can change. Faith that troubles don’t last always. Faith that no matter what was handed down to you, you can rise and become greater. God is on your side.


Someday, someone will stand on your shoulders. Be brave and persevere with faith.
