Sunday Seven

  1. If a recipe for making tough choices exist, Godly wisdom would be listed first in the ingredient list. The fruits of choosing wise decisions are peace, contentment, and the satisfaction of knowing I am pleasing God.
  2. I pray regularly when making tough decisions. Prayer is giving Heaven permission to invade my earthly circumstances. Prayer is an open dialogue with God who hears and answers.
  3. The Bible is the textbook I use when making tough decisions. I immerse myself in Scripture daily. I try not to be focused on my problem. I open myself to the whole counsel of Scripture. God has all the wisdom I need to make the right decision. It is up to me to read and apply His words to my life.
  4. Love is a great friend to those making tough decisions. Love covers a multitude of sins. Love is patient, kind, and not jealous. Love will not dishonor the other. Love is not easily-angered or self-seeking. When asked, "what would love do?" we find that love does not keep records of wrong. Have you considered agape love when making tough decisions?
  5. Have you felt a deep hunger for wisdom right before making a tough decision? Humility makes it possible. Proverbs 11:2 says, with humility, comes wisdom. A humble heart is open to receiving wisdom from God. When making tough decisions, I am encouraged to walk in humility.
  6. Some seasons of life require several tough decisions. Flexibility is a great thing to have. Each day, God is well able to give us wisdom. We need to be flexible as we follow His lead. Just like life, Godly wisdom is not predictable. What is required of me one day might change the next. Applying flexibility to my life guarantees that I will follow God's lead, no matter what is required of me. I know it will only be for my good because God is good.
  7. The thing about making tough choices is that the fruit of your choices may not grow for a while. We need to trust God's wisdom. Trust, accompanied by patience brings peace. Peace brings joy in knowing we will not be shaken. We can safely rely on all-wise God.
