The Life Impact of Letters

Monday, February 27, 2012

This month I've been following my own Mindful Challenge. In this challenge we are mindful to be a blessing to others (Galatians 6:10). I think that using our words wisely is one of the keys to be a blessing to others. When you use your words well, you release the power of life over someone (see Proverbs 18:21).
Yesterday I read on Twitter that when you update your status on Facebook, that might make an impact for 2 hours. Of course Twitter updates are quicker and the impact of the words released there, quite shallow. I believe in writing letters and cards because their impact is long lasting. You take the time to sit down and craft it with your own hands. You mean every word you put in there and this is exactly how the reader receives it. Words in paper last for a lifetime. While many of us can't remember what someone wrote on our Facebook wall yesterday, we tend to hold on to letters and the power of the words written there. Being mindful to spread the positive power of words through letters is an amazing way to be Mindful of others.
I challenge you to be mindful through the written word to 3 people this week. Let me know what impact it made in your life and theirs.
