It Worked for Me: Menu Planning

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

It seems like I finally have energy to plan and execute menus around here. Last week I had the extra encouragement found in this post. I decided to follow my friend's example and just do it. So I went to my Foodie Board on Pinterest and got a few ideas. I thought about foods that my husband and kids would actually eat and got some more ideas. I looked at the sale paper and got even more ideas. It took me a while but I combined all of that together in my calendar, inputed the grocery list in my favorite Home App Grocery iQ and went to the grocery store prepared. I was pretty happy with the savings!
The plan is to keep doing the same thing over and over: write down what I need on a calendar (which makes my selections final), have my grocery list ready on Grocery iQ and be prepared for the week. This far having all ingredients I need has proved to be wise and peaceful. No need to run to the store 4 times this week.
Question: What works for you when planning your weekly menu?

Thanks for the shout out! I had a setback this week. :( Next week I'm back to that awesome plan I used before.
