"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well." Psalm 139:14
We are quick to think that this Bible verse applies to others such as our children and we are slow to apply it to ourselves. Today I want to remind you that God made you wonderful, just as you are. One o the greatest revelations I had about the love of God for me came during a weekend retreat called Women's Encounter. I heard God say that I didn't have to lose one more pound, He loved me just the way I was. I heard Him say that He loved my voice and I didn't have to sound like the greatest singer on earth. It was mind blowing to know that someone like Him can see through my imperfections and still love me. God proved His love for me a long time ago through Jesus and He has no problem reminding me of how great that love is. If His works are wonderful, so am I for He created me.
As a mother, it is challenging to see me as wonderfully made. Unfortunately, confidence and motherhood do no mix but it should. Let me give you a few good reasons:
• God uniquely created you to fulfill your role as a mother. He gave your children to you and no one else in the world because YOU, yes, you have something to pass on to them. No one else can do this but you. God picked you and equipped you.
• You should not compare yourself to others. God made you one of a kind. To fall in the comparison trap is an insult to the One who made you so well. Don't let comparisons steal the joy God wants you to have all the time.
• You rock and I just wanted you to know that!
• You rock and I just wanted you to know that!
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24
