I didn't grow up in a country where Fall was a distinct season. I watched movies about it but now that I'm in the U.S., I've been blessed to experience it.
Fall is better with family. While I enjoyed getting lost in the beauty of the North Carolina leaf season, it was way better when we had the kids.
Our family enjoys the break from the summer heat. We also enjoy the smells of the season, the colors and even the sounds. We change the decoration of our home and we light those pumpkin spice candles too.
I want to share a few quotes about Fall with you.
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
– Albert Camus
There is so much beauty in the uniqueness of nature in the Fall. Trees are just being themselves. Every year, as God planned it, the leaves change color and fall. There is so much beauty in watching God's brilliance in nature.
“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.”
– Oscar Wilde
My summer was intense. It did feel like fall came out of nowhere. I also know that the Fall season doesn't last so I made sure we decorated early and intentionally. I also want to be sure to enjoy the uniqueness of this season purposefully.
“I loved Autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it.”
– Lee Maynard
God is brilliant. I am amazed at the fact that He, out of His brilliance and love would give us the Fall season.
“The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let the dead things go.”
– Unknown
Letting go of dead things can be so difficult. I have held on to people and seasons that needed to go. The trees show us each Fall, how to let go and why it is necessary. There are new things coming. They can only come when we let go of the old.
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
