12 days of Christmas Devos: singing

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

"Hail! the heav'n born Prince of peace!
Hail! the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die:
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
Glory to the newborn King!"
from Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

One of my favorite things about the Christmas season are the songs we sing. The lyrics of Hark! The Herald Angel sing are specially significant.

I love the connection with the Bible. I believe, in years past, I told my family about the scriptures mentioned here.

This year, my kids are involved in choir, so they have been immersed in Christmas carols, songs and hymns. We try to sing them at home as well.

Singing about the birth of Jesus brings a special sweetness to the season. It reminds us that the faith we sing is alive and it is powerful.

I encourage you to sing with your family this season and in every season!
