Summer Health Challenge Wrap-up and what's next

Friday, August 4, 2023

Now that our summer is over the kids are back to school, I want to think about the summer challenge and celebrate the results.

Initial weight: 158.1 lbs

Week 1: 155.8

Week 2: 155.8

Week 3: 154.9

Week 4: 156.2

Week 5: 156.9

Week 6: 157.4

Week 7: 157.3

Total: - 0.6

Goal 1: 149.7 (failed)

Goal 2: 141.7 (failed)

June and July were two different months. June was filled with birthdays, activities and sports. We hosted and helped family and friends, which is always a joy. I got an A + in menu planning and prepping. I also got an A+ in exercise. I had great intentions for July. I didn't follow through with my goal of decreasing my sugar consumption. I had a slight change in my schedule, so I adapted to that. I found myself quite tired of keeping up with all my systems. Still, I tried to keep going.

There was so much more I could say. At the end of the day, I am grateful for the following:

• The ability and courage to set a goal. If aimed for nothing, I'd hit that for sure.

• Health and strength to do all God called me to do this summer. My goal is to be the wife and mother God called me to be. Being healthy and fit really helps me with this goal.

• I really enjoyed running my first Georgia race. Everyone around here seems to think I'm a first-timer to running but distance running and I have been acquainted for a lot time. I'm always grateful to run.

• I'm grateful to put some of my systems to the test. Having a solid menu really works. Prepping food really works. Being ready to work out early in the morning really helps me get out the door. I'm also grateful about what I learned from the systems I am still trying to master (such as food journaling).

What's next?

I want to reach my goal by the end of the year. With that in mind, here is what I'm working on:

• I'm speaking with a nutritionist Monday. She's also my CrossFit coach. This is important because he understands my output which influences the input I need to have.

• I'm on week 3 of the checklist challenge, and I plan to stay with the challenge until the end of the year.

• I want to lose body fat and gain muscle. I have hard numbers to go with that. I also want to keep pushing myself in training in order to get stronger.

• I want to keep learning what it means to be healthy and strong this season of life. I'm really blessed to be where I am fitness-wise. I also know there is so much more to learn. I want to keep growing.

Thanks again for keeping up with this series y'all!
