Back to Weight Watchers: Mindset Actions

Wednesday, November 8, 2023

Celebrating 20 years since we went on our first date!

All week I kept asking myself, "Will this work?" The answer was in my actions. After a busy weekend, I made adjustments in my nutrition. I refused to eat foods that were not part of my plan. I added a lot of vegetables to my plate with a purpose. When eating out with my husband, I made an excellent menu choice. I completed my half marathon training run and all my CrossFit classes for the week. I learned that when I embrace a winner's mindset, my actions closely follow that mindset.

Mindset is most effective with accompanying actions.

I spend time watching elite CrossFit athletes talk about their training. The current strongest woman on earth taught me a lot about mindset lately. She said she had no doubt she was going to win a certain competition. She wasn't bragging, she was stating a fact. The fact was backed up by her relentless training.

She trains on purpose and with a purpose. She should expect to win. My favorite Zig Ziglar quote says "You were born to be a winner but in order to win you must plan to win, prepare to win and expect to win."

What if I focused on nutrition on purpose and with a purpose this next week? What type of actions would support this plan?

• I like to start looking at my calendar for the next week. 4 of 7 nights are busy. I need to plan and prepare my meals ahead of time.
• I need to shop for those meals Friday and commit to prep them on Friday too

These things will make the next week immensely easier.

I'm glad about this week's loss (0.9 lbs). I appreciate any and all losses because they get me closer to my goal. If I lose 0.9 lbs between now and the end of the year I will achieve my first goal of losing 5.1 lbs.

Have you thought about the actions that follow your mindset? Are there any changes you need to make? Here are my numbers for the week.

Starting weight: 175 lbs

Current weight: 158.5 lbs (-16.5)

First Goal: 153.4 lbs (-5.1)

Second Goal: 146 lbs (-12.5)

Final Goal: 136 lbs (-22.5)
