Marathon Training Week 13

Saturday, November 7, 2020

The big one. This week, we reached some of the highest mileage of this season thus far. We ran 18 miles during the week and 18 on Saturday.

The runs during the week went well. I will be honest and say that I was nervous about most of them. It was time to switch my tennis shoes so I kept waiting for them to come in.

They didn't come in until Thursday, which means I wore them for my long run for the first time. I've done this before. I jump right into what's next. I'm glad I did.
We started early and came back to the start for a group photo. When the sun came up, we were able to see how gorgeous our neck of the woods is. I praised God for a great run.
Part of what made the run great was the fact that I wasn't sure if I was going to run the night before. I ate out and my stomach was not happy with the foods I chose. I stopped eating immediately. I went to bed as soon as I could. I woke up super rested, feeling well and ready for the challenge of 18 miles.

I've been running 4:1 intervals (run for 4 minutes, walk for 1) and I pretty much started and finished like that.

I kept telling myself to run the mile you're in. Thinking about 18 can be overwhelming but if I focus on where I am as well as making progress, it really helps me.

Life is like that too. I am encouraging myself to "run the mile I'm in." Thanks for coming along with me in this journey and keep me in your prayers for a great finish!
