My weight loss in 60 seconds: carbs and WW

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

There is so much talk about carbs. Carbs are bad, carbs are good, count your carbs... The fact is, I don't have anything against carbs. I know I need to eat them because of the type of sport I chose (long distance running).

I am glad that I can eat carbs with the WW plan. I do not plan on eating carbs all day. What I plan on doing is consuming the correct amount of carbs each day.

Before I go on, it is wise to consult your physician before embarking in a diet or exercise program. I consult with my doctor throughout the year. Every summer, during my annual exam, my doctor and I speak about all things health. I make sure that I get direction for what I am doing. My goal is to live the healthiest life possible. I hope you are in touch with your physician during your health journey too.

Back to WW. I'm glad that I can fit carbs into my plan. It is amazing to eat pasta, bread and tortillas while losing weight. My goal is to know how to behave around all foods.

I also know that there are foods that are nutritionally better for me than others. I try my best to choose them.

As we go into marathon training season (which starts in July), I am going to pay closer attention to my nutrients. I want to be sure that my body is fueled by the best nutrients out there. If there are great sources of carbs, I'll choose that over empty sources.

The past month was challenging but I made it through. I lost 1 pound last month. I see this as an advantage. My doctor once told me that losing weight slowly is a great idea. Even if all I could do was to lose 1 pound a month, that would result in a 12-pound loss a year.

As I walk on towards the summer, I am determined to reach my goal. I won't give up and I hope you don't give up either.
